Indie rock outfit The Ninjas have today been announced as the very first winner of the Pacific International Music (PIM) $50,000 Career Development Scholarship. Based in Brisbane, The Ninjas were awarded the scholarship, overcoming over 500 other bands who had applied. The quality of the applications was exceptional according to Karen Andrews Latter from J Music Australia, who moderated the selection process. “We were incredibly impressed by the calibre of artists that applied for the scholarship,” she said. “So many of the applicants were very deserving of this prize, but it was The Ninjas that impressed us most of all with their fuzzy indie rock sound, their proactive nature and their exceptionally well-prepared application.” She went on to say “We are very excited to be commencing a working relationship with The Ninjas who show immense potential at this early stage of their career”. The scholarship—in its inaugural year—is an initiative of PIM in partnership with two other key organisations, J Music Australia and SoGuru Media. The ecstatic Ninja boys are looking forward to reaping the benefits of a hefty list of prizes including a recording package, professional photo shoot and video clip, a brand new website, slick looking press kit, and a management consultancy package designed to empower them with the skills to manage their career effectively. In short, it’s pretty darn incredible.
